Each day we will complete a DGP (Daily Grammar Practice) exercise.

On Monday students will be given a vocabulary list (included at the end of this post).  We will do a brief review of the vocabulary each day and will have a test on Friday.

Students will complete practice this week with using subject and object pronouns.

Homework:  Read and record any finished book on list.  Prepare for book share (for one minute tell about the book the student is reading).  Study vocabulary words.

 

Vocabulary word list:

biped – a creature with two feet.

centipede – a creature with 100 feet.

impediment – something that stands in one’s way; an obstacle.

millipede – a creature with 1000 feet.

pedal – a lever that is moved with one’s foot.

peddler – a person who goes from door to door on foot trying to sell a product.

pedestrian – a person who walks across the street on foot.

pedicure – a foot treatment that could include soaking the feet and polishing the toenails.

quadruped – a four-footed creature.

tripod – a three-footed stand often used to balance a camera.

Each Day in Class:  Daily Grammar Practice and Success Maker

Students will be working on a personal narrative in class.

Final copy is due by Wednesday, December 7th and will be counted as a test grade.

Library on Friday.

Homework:  KBAR  Students should read for at least twenty minutes and write a brief summary of what they read each night.  KBAR should be turned in on Friday.

DGP (Sentence Structure) Clauses, Sentence Purpose, Sentence Type

Review direct and indirect objects.

Students will identify the following in sentences:  prepositional phrases, simple subjects, simple predicates, direct and indirect objects.

Introduced Indirect Objects.  Practice tomorrow.

We will most likely have a test over direct and indirect object, predicate nouns and predicate adjectives on Tuesday of next week.  This will depend on the progress that my students make by that time.  If we need more time, the test will be postponed, and we will take more time to master this standard.
